César Chagolla
Author of 'Juan & the Deathly Butterfly'
César Chagolla is a Mexican playwright and theater artist trained at the Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral (ENAT) in Mexico City, one of the country’s most respected institutions for theatrical training.
His work blends poetic storytelling, humor, and visual imagination with themes rooted in Latin American cultural traditions. Through his writing, Chagolla explores questions of identity, family, and the emotional journeys that shape our understanding of life and loss.
Juan and the Deathly Butterfly draws inspiration from Mexican storytelling traditions surrounding life, death, and transformation. The play approaches these themes with warmth, humor, and humanity, offering young audiences a theatrical experience that is both culturally rich and emotionally resonant.
Written with students and community audiences in mind, the work invites reflection on courage, empathy, and the meaning of letting go.
