Students don’t just watch the story...
They create the next one!
From Audience to Author
Student Story & Illustration Submission
The Theater Wheel Creative Literacy Initiative invites students to become storytellers and share their creativity inspired by the live performance they experienced at their school.
Students are encouraged to write, draw, or create their own stories based on the themes of the play. Selected works will be featured in the Theater Wheel Commemorative Book (Summer 2027), celebrating student imagination and artistic expression.
How Students Can Participate
Step 1 - Create Your Story
Use the page titled “Become a Young Author!” in your Theater Wheel booklet.
Students may submit one of the following:
• A short poem
• A one-page story
• A comic or illustrated story
• A drawing inspired by the play
Step 2 - Capture Your Work
Ask a teacher, parent, or guardian to take a clear photo of your completed page.
Make sure the image is readable and well-lit.
Step 3 - Submit Your Work
Submissions can be sent using one of the following options:

Option A - Email Submission
Send the photo to:

Theater Wheel Creative Submission
In the email include the following information:

Student’s Name
-
School Name
-
Grade Level
-
Name and contact information of the Teacher, Parent or Guardian.

Option B - QR Code Submission
Scan the following QR code (it's also included in the booklet) to upload the drawing or story directly from your phone and complete all required fields.
Submission Deadline
Students have up to 10 days after the Theater Wheel performance at their school or community to submit their work.
Late submissions may not be considered.
Selection Process
Submissions will be reviewed by an Artistic Review Committee composed of theater educators and artists.
Entries will be evaluated based on:
Creativity and originality
Connection with the themes of the play
Artistic expression appropriate for the student’s grade level
Selected works will be included in the Theater Wheel Commemorative Book (Summer 2027).
Scholarship Award
To celebrate creativity and student voice, selected entries will receive a $500 Creative Scholarship.
Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Artistic Committee based on originality, storytelling, and creative merit.
Publication Authorization
By submitting a story or drawing, the student and their parent or legal guardian grant Theater Wheel permission to publish the work in:
• The Theater Wheel Commemorative Book
• Theater Wheel presentations and educational materials
• Theater Wheel digital platforms and social media
Copyright
Students retain full ownership of their work.
Theater Wheel only receives permission to share and publish the work for educational, artistic, and cultural purposes.
